Nagoya Station Area (City Center)

Nagoya Station, or Meieki, is the city’s main transportation hub, connecting JR bullet trains, local JR lines, subways, and the Kintetsu and Meitetsu railways. This makes it an excellent base for exploring both Nagoya and the surrounding region.

The area around the station is home to several large shopping complexes, including JR Nagoya Takashimaya, JR Gate Tower, and KITTE Nagoya. The underground shopping mall is packed with boutiques and cafés, creating a lively urban atmosphere.

To the south of the station lies the Global Gate development – the future terminal for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, Japan’s next-generation maglev bullet train, which promises even faster and more convenient travel. Within walking distance, you’ll find the world-renowned Noritake Garden, where you can explore the history of Noritake porcelain, visit beautiful gardens, and watch craftsmen at work.

Nearby is the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, located in a beautifully preserved red-brick factory of Toyota Motors. It offers fascinating insights into Japan’s industrial history and the evolution of its automotive technology.
