The Buddhist Taizoin Temple is located in the heart of the Myoshinji temple complex. Within its walls is the national treasure “Hyoenzu” (an ink painting). This work represents early Japanese ink painting and is considered a national treasure of Japan.
The temple is also home to the famous garden “Yokoen”, renowned for its beauty. Throughout the year, something is always in bloom: camellias in December and January, plum blossoms in February, cherry blossoms in late March to early April, wisteria in late April, lotuses in July, osmanthus in late September, and of course, red maples in mid-November to early December. There is also a rock garden, typical of Kyoto, a city far from the sea. After a walk through the temple grounds, you will be offered matcha tea with Japanese sweets.
