A tea house built over 200 years ago on the grounds of Horyu-ji Temple, the world’s oldest wooden structure, offers tea ceremony workshops. Here you will be served traditional matcha tea along with wagashi (Japanese sweets). You can choose from the following workshop plans:
- Basic Course: How to prepare matcha tea. This course includes learning how to make matcha and tasting it.
- Intermediate Course: This course includes learning how to prepare matcha as well as Japanese etiquette: bowing and greeting, walking correctly on tatami, and the proper way to enjoy tea and wagashi.
- Advanced Course: A lesson from a true master with tea ceremony experience. In addition to etiquette and tea preparation, you will also learn how to make wagashi.
