Experience the extraordinary thrill of observing humpback whales during the winter season. Normally found near Alaska, humpback whales come to the waters around Okinawa from January to March to breed and nurture their young. During the mating season, you can watch the whales from quite close.
Humpback whales can grow up to 16 meters long and swim in groups—a truly breathtaking sight. You may see them spouting water, arching their bodies like a bridge, or slapping the surface of the water with their tails. You might also spot different whale groups, such as a parent with a calf, pairs of swimming whales, and more. Enjoy the majestic ocean and these magnificent creatures!
