Universal Studios Japan (USJ), located in Osaka Bay, was the first Universal Studios theme park built in Asia. It opened in March 2001 and spans 39 hectares, making it the second most-visited theme park in Japan after Tokyo Disneyland.
Today, USJ features ten themed zones: Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Village of Friendship, Universal Wonderland, Minion Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Super Nintendo World.
From kid-friendly carousels to thrilling roller coasters and immersive simulators, USJ has something for everyone. Fans of blockbuster movies can step into the worlds of Spider-Man, Back to the Future, Terminator 2, and Jurassic Park. Along the way, don’t miss a chance to meet beloved characters like Snoopy, Hello Kitty, and the Minions, or watch one of the many live shows and parades—including a spectacular nighttime procession of illuminated floats.
Right outside the park gates, you’ll find Universal Citywalk Osaka, a lively shopping and dining complex with official Universal hotels, restaurants, and stores. On the 4th floor, food lovers can visit the Osaka Takoyaki Museum, which gathers several famous takoyaki vendors under one roof.
