Highlights of the tour: Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park – Japanese macaques (Snow monkeys) – Togakushi Shrine – “Path of the Gods”** – Ninja Museum (closed from November 20 to April 24)
During the excursion you will:
- Stroll through the famous Jigokudani Valley (“Hell Valley”), part of a vast natural park with hot springs.
- Watch playful Japanese macaques soaking in the hot baths or sipping warm spring water.
- Walk along the “Path of the Gods” to Togakushi Shrine, one of Japan’s best-kept hidden gems (approx. 2-hour walk; comfortable shoes required)**.
- Discover over 2,000 years of history at the shrine, where blessings are given for business prosperity, academic success, good fortune, and family harmony.
- Walk beneath 300 ancient cedar trees, each over 700 years old, while listening to fascinating tales of ninja warriors.
- Explore the Ninja Museum (closed from November 20 to April 24; please check availability when booking).
Important Notes
- The guide will meet you in the hotel lobby or at Nagano Station and accompany you back.
** In case of heavy snowfall, Togakushi Shrine and the “Path of the Gods” may be replaced with a visit to Zenkoji Temple in Nagano.
*** Transportation from/to Tokyo is not included. Shinkansen round-trip Tokyo–Nagano with reserved seat (economy class): ¥19,950 / USD 200 per person. (Children 0–5 without seat: free; ages 6–11: 50% discount).
